Applications being Accepted for Diversity Awards The Division of Student Affairs embraces and fosters diversity while developing conscious commitment to promoting a fully inclusive, accessible University community. In the spirit of fostering excellence in diversity, the Division announces that applications are now being accepted for the second annual Student Affairs Diversity Awards. The division hopes to receive applications from every department in Student Affairs for at least one of the three awards listed below. 1) Departmental award: . The department must display a commitment to diversity. . Diversity MUST be reflected in the departmental mission and core values. . Department must tie their diversity work in with the Division and the University. . Efforts must reach beyond the majority population TYPICALLY served by the department. 2) New Initiative Award: . The program or service must have taken place for the first time during the qualifying period (Nov. 1, 2006 to Nov. 1, 2007), . The program or service must have diversity-related learning outcomes that model inclusiveness. . Information on how this program is being assessed must be included for each entry. 3) Individual Award: . The individual must have completed Our Campus training and participated in diversity training beyond this, ie, started the HR diversity certificate program, or attended other diversity workshops. . The individual shows a commitment to diversity both inside and outside of the workplace. This year's recipients will be recognized at the Student Affairs Division holiday reception Dec. 14, time and location to be announced. The applications will be judged by a cross-campus panel. How to apply: The awards should be applied for online. Visit studentaffairs.uark.edu, click the Diversity link on the left side of the page and follow the instructions. Any supporting documentation must be submitted to ARKU 404, by 4 p.m. Nov. 9. All submissions are due by close of business on Nov. 9.
