Former Dean, Ohio University President to Speak at Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Recommitment Banquet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Tickets are now on sale for the 12th annual Recommitment Banquet to commemorate and celebrate Martin Luther King Day in northwest Arkansas. The banquet will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, the Fayetteville Town Center on the Fayetteville Square.

Roderick McDavis, president of Ohio University and former dean of the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas will be the keynote speaker, addressing the banquet theme, "Living the Dream in the 21st Century: Where do You Stand?"

The semi-formal banquet will also honor scholarship recipients and local "Salute to Greatness" service award winners.

Tickets are on sale through Jan. 11. Prices are $25 for adults and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased through the University of Arkansas Office of Affirmative Action, (479) 575-4019; John L. The Recommitment Banquet is organized and sponsored by the Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Planning Committee. The event is the committee's major fundraiser, with the proceeds going toward annual scholarships for students entering or attending college.
